Headwaters Horse Country’s signature art contest

Headwaters Horse Country held an art contest to find a signature art piece to represent Horse Country.

The winning selection will be used as part of the marketing and promotion of Headwaters Horse Country. According to Ross Millar, Chair of the Headwaters Equine Leadership Group, “over time it is our hope that the winning image becomes synonymous with Headwaters Horse Country. While Lexington Kentucky has their signature blue horse, we look forward to introducing our own signature image that represents not just Headwaters Horse Country, but is a testament to the incredible artistic talent that exists within all of Headwaters.”

The response to this contest was incredible and the talent of our local artists is inspiring! With over 70 entries, the majesty of Headwaters Horse Country was interpreted through various media, styles and techniques.

We would like to thank all of the artists who submitted their artwork for the contest.

The contest officially closed on May 31, 2014 and seven finalists were announced August 1, 2014.  The winners were announced at the October 2nd Horse Country Evening of Celebration.

The winners are as follows:

  • The Grand Prize winner is Show Horse by Amanda Melinz.
  • The Second Prize winner is Wide Open Spaces by Ann Clifford.
  • The Emerging Equine Artist award went to The Field by Laura Tomona.
